I bought this a little over a year ago when I owned a 2014 suburban. The navigation system was not updated and I elected to buy this instead of upgrading my on board system. I might have used it 4 or 5 times. On our way to the beach, I hit a deer, totaled my 14. I bought a 2018 and it's GPS is current and it updates automatically. Just selling this because I never use it. I know it has free lifetime updates. I've never registered it, not sure why, just saying, im not sure if thats for the original purchase or if it carries over but the info to register it is still in the box and a good chance you can still do that but I can't say that for sure.
